    Synopsis
This is the full playscript for LATER, AFTER with commentary by the writers, actors and producers.

Since being discharged from the army after tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Alex’s life is out of control and he keeps people at a distance – even his friends. When Alex is arrested after yet another bar fight, he finds himself in a police station being interviewed by police psychiatrist Dr. Helen Ashton. As Alex's story unfolds, he tells Helen about his life of duty in a series of traumatic flashbacks. Can she help him find a way to navigate the unfamiliar, twisting paths of civilian life, or will he choose to sink deeper into a cycle of avoidance and depression? Is there a life for Alex, later, after the military?

    "Harrowing"
    "Thought provoking"
    "Challenging"

A companion DVD is also available, filmed at the original London production of 'Later, After'.

    Sinopse

    Resenha

    5/5estrelas.

    Review
I took this book without even reading the synopsis, because everything Jane Harvey-Berrick writes takes me off the track, makes me think about life and question my behavior in everything. With this work was not at all different, on the contrary it presents a real portrait of a person who had his whole life dedicated to military service and simply does not know what to do with it after being dismissed without honors and without help.

The book presents the testimony of the people involved with this playscript, including writer and ex EOD  Mike Spiers who helped Jane Harvey write and convey to perfection the anguish in which the character Alex lives.

As it says in the synopsis, Alex is a condecorated military specializing in disarming bombs that thanks to a medical waiver saw his whole life transformed, but not for the better. Alex knows everything he needs about Post Trauma Disorder Syndrome and is unwilling to cooperate with the psychiatrist Helen who appears in his cell at the London police station to try to guide him to seek help.

The world lives in an eternal tension and it is always difficult to read reports about what men and women pass on the front of wars that we do not understand why they started and if it will ever end. It is always very difficult to understand how the rulers treat the people who dedicate themselves to their country. It is always difficult and frustrating to see how we, like Helen, often get caught up in the conflict in which the human mind finds itself in a survival struggle.

Alex brings with a dark and sardonic humor strong issues that leave the psychiarist and us without ground. Although she thinks she has the answers to his pain, even opening up to her he shows how his case has no solution.

The duel between them is fascinating, frustrating and creates a strong conflict in people's minds. Reading the report of the actors and the director at the end of the book on the reaction of the military who saw the film, make me  impressed and eager to see this DVD.

    5/5 stars.

    Kisses, Myl
