Synopsis
Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania (population three thousand outside of tourist season).

Catherine
até os dezesseis anos foi uma jovem passional e inconsequente que
acabou cometendo um erro que transformou toda sua vida e de sua
família. Agora sete anos depois, ela só quer dar uma vida digna a
filha e ser invisível para as pessoas preconceituosas da cidade
onde vive. Na noite em que salva um rapaz envolvido em um grave
acidente de carro, ela tem sua vida transformada novamente
radicalmente para o bem desta vez. Porem ela não quer ser destaque
novamente.
O
rapaz que Catherine salva nada mais é que um famoso jogador hoquei ,
Brett, que estava indo para uma festa com um colega e amigo que não
teve a mesma sorte que ele de sobreviver a esta tragédia. Ele não
se conforma em não poder agradecer pessoalmente pela vida a quem o
salvou e faz de tudo para descobrir quem é sua heroina.
O
reencontro dos dois é emocionante para ambos e a centelha faiscante
da paixão é praticamente instântanea o que gera uma confusão de
sentimentos em ambos ,fazendo com que evitem admitir o que sentem um
para o outro. Enquanto isso a mídia está louco especulando quem é
e o que faz esta heroína e começa a investigar sua vida deixando
Catherine preocupada com o que posso acontecer com ela e sua filha.
O
livro é muito bem escrito com cada situação encaixada no momento
certo para culminar num final surpreendente e lindo. É um tipico
conto de fadas moderno com todos os elementos que caracterizam este
gênero ,desde o principe encantado, vilões ,heroína injustiçada,
fada madrinha , a magia especial do amor até a resolução do
problema com uma bela lição e crítica discreta à situação
inicial e sofrimento da protagonista no passado.
Falando
em passado, o que no decorrer da leitura eu confirmei é que o livro
é sobre a superação e crescimento de Catherine tendo o romance
como pano de fundo para mostrar tudo que aconteceu com ela seja no
passado como no presente. É narrado em primeira pessoa somente pela
garota o que dá mais força ao meu pensamento ainda mais quando você
olha para esta capa brilhante e iluminada que mostra bem que o foco
principal é garota.
Destaque
para mim foi principalmente :
-
o amigo de Catherine , Keith, outro principe apaixonante que torço
para ter um livro tambem;
-
o casal que cuida muito bem de Catherine, Lou e Leroy;
-
e a filha dela Brenna que é uma figura tão curiosa e divertida que
coloca a mãe em situações constrangedoras em vários momentos do
livro.

Catherine
until she was sixteen was a passionate and inconsequential teenager
who ended up making a mistake that transformed her whole life and her
family too. Now seven years later, she just wants to give her
daughter a decent life and be invisible to the prejudiced people in
the city where she lives. The night she saves a guy involved in a
serious car accident, she has her life radically transformed again
for good this time . But she does not want to be featured again.
The
boy Catherine saves is nothing more than a famous hockey player,
Brett, who was going to a party with a colleague and friend who was
not as fortunate as him to survive this tragedy. He does not content
himself with not being able to thank personally for his life to whom
saved him and does everything to find out who his heroine is.
Their
reunion is both exciting and the sparkling of passion is almost
instantaneous which creates a confusion of feelings in both of them,
making them refuse to admit what they feel for each other. Meanwhile
the media are crazy speculating who this heroine is and what she does
and begins to investigate her life leaving Catherine worried about
what can happen to her and her daughter.
The
book is very well written with every situation set in the right
moment to culminate in a surprising and beautiful ending. It is a
typical modern fairy tale with all the elements that characterize
this genre, from the enchanted prince, villains, heroin, fairy
godmother, the special magic of love , everything is solving the
problem with a beautiful lesson and discreet criticism of the initial
situation and Suffering of the protagonist in the past.
Speaking
in the past, what in the course of reading I have confirmed is that
the book is about overcoming and growing Catherine having the romance
as background to show everything that happened to her in the past as
in the present. It is narrated in the first person only by the girl
which gives more strength to my thinking even more when you look at
this bright and illuminated cover that shows well that the main focus
is girl.
Highlight
for me was mainly:
-
Catherine's friend, Keith, another passionate prince who I hope to
have a book for him too;
-
the couple who take good care of Catherine, Lou and Leroy;
-
and her daughter Brenna who is such a curious and entertaining figure
that puts her mother in embarrassing situations at various points in
the book.
